Welcome to our website which gives both members and visitors
information about our Rotary Club and the various activities
we participate in.
The motto of Rotary International is 'Service above Self'
and each year we have a theme, this year its
'Rotary Shares'.
During the Rotary Year 2007/2008 our club will be celebrating its 20th anniversary and a Charter Night commemorating this is planned for the end of may 2008 (the club was actually chartered on 3rd June 1988 and we still have nine founder members in our midst).
Our Club has always prided itself in operating on the 3 F's principle, and they are Fellowship, Fundraising and Fun.
Fellowship is achieved by meeting each week and discussing
topics of mutual interest as well as keeping up to date with what is happening in our town of Redditch. At many
of our meetings we have a speaker (this year we have been lucky enough to have booked a local Mp amongst others), and members of other
Rotary Clubs regularly visit us. We also arrange visits
to other clubs and places of interest.
Recently we went to the Air ambulance depot at Strensham and witnessed an emergency call-out during our visit; another week we visited the newly re-vamped Transport museum at Wythall where we were given a guided tour and informed about the history of road Passenger transport from the early 1900's onwards.
We organise a number of fundraising events throughout
the year and try to make these as enjoyable as possible.
Events this year include running the bottle stall at the
local Hospital Fete, a collection at Sainsburys supermarket at Christmas and a '100Club' lottery spread over five months.
The monies raised go to local, national and international
causes. Other parts of our site will tell you about some
of our projects and how we are helping to eradicate Polio
and providing fresh water for those in need.
In conclusion I would say that whatever we do in the Club we always try to keep a light-hearted enjoyable atmosphere going so that our members really do want to come along and participate in our weekly Tuesday evening meetings.
